One perfect day in Torquay (without rushing Bells)

A realistic one-day Torquay plan: coffee, Cosy Corner, surf and sunset — Australian English, visitor-focused.

You don’t need to thrash the entire Great Ocean Road in a day to have a brilliant Torquay visit. Here’s a paced plan that still leaves room for ice cream.

Morning

Espresso near Gilbert Street or the Esplanade — start with eat & drink. Then claim a patch of lawn at Cosy Corner while the sand is still cool.

Midday

Book a surf lesson or hire a board if you’re already comfortable. Lunch with a view on the Esplanade, or a pub meal in Jan Juc if you’re with kids (play area alert).

Afternoon

Drive or ride out to Bells Beach lookouts — photos, not lineup chaos. On the way back, duck into the Australian National Surfing Museum if legs are cooked (also in our wet weather list).

Evening

Dinner in Torquay or Jan Juc, then an easy foreshore stroll under the Norfolk pines. If you’re continuing west tomorrow, skim Great Ocean Road from Torquay tonight so you’re not Googling at dawn.
